French baritone Ludovic Tézier, recognized as one of the best in the world, gave a masterclass today at the Nicola Sala Conservatory of Benevento in the San Vittorino auditorium. Currently performing at the San Carlo Theater in Naples in the opera La Gioconda, Tézier accepted the invitation from the president of the Conservatory, Caterina Meglio, and the director, Giuseppe Ilario, both dedicated to pedagogical excellence.
Tézier shared his journey with the students, telling them how, initially studying economics in Marseille, he was drawn to singing heard from the courtyard and gradually moved towards the singing school without ever forcing his voice to accelerate his career. He advised not to rush through the stages, especially with intense roles, because, as they say in France, “without a base, you can’t make the sauce.” Two hours of exchange with students in operatic singing from around the world constituted an inspiring experience, enhancing the competitiveness of the Conservatory. “An event of great prestige,” concluded Meglio, once again highlighting the quality and innovation of the Conservatory’s offerings.
